Chuck Cary was born in Whittier, California. He stands 6’4” and weighs 225 lbs. He is a left-
handed batter and pitcher. Chuck attended California High School, where he lettered 9 times.
Three times each in football, basketball, and baseball. He was voted an All-American in
basketball during his junior year, and California Athlete of the Year in his senior year of high
school. Chuck batted a .543 his senior year, and was 8-1 with a 0.53 ERA as a pitcher. He
recieved all-state honors in baseball during his senior year. Chuck was inducted into the
Californa state Hall of Fame In 1994.
Upon his graduation, Chuck Cary recieved over 180 scholarship offers for baseball, football,
and basketball. He attended the University of California Berkeley. Chuck was a pitcher in the
1980 College World Series, winning over St. Johns University. In a NBC baseball tournament
in Wichita, Kansas, Chuck threw a no-hitter. He was drafted in the seventh round by the
Detroit Tigers in the 1981 amateur draft. Chuck remained with the Tigers for six years.
Following his time in Detroit, Chuck spent two years with the Atlanta Braves, before a three-
year stint with the New York Yankees. In 1992, he played for the Tokyo Giants. His final
year in Major League Baseball, 1993, was spent with the Chicago White Sox. After winning
the American League West pennant, Chuck retired from baseball, after a 13 year
professional career.
Chuck has lived in the Niceville, Florida area since 1987. Chuck and his wife Katherine have been married for 25 years and
have three wonderful children.
