Smith is currently the Head Coach for the 15u, 17u and 18u Florida Mustangs.  The 17u has been ranked in the top 10 by Perfect Game for over a year and finished runner up at the 2009 WWBA National Championship out of 186 teams.  The 14u Mustangs won the Grand Slam World Series in 2009 and was ranked as high as #44 in the US.    L.C. Smith has coached at various levels of organized baseball. In 2001 he was an assistant at Starkville Academy in Starkville, Mississippi, and was later named Head Coach of both Varsity Baseball and Varsity Softball in 2002. The Volunteers won the North State Championship in baseball and softball. In 2003-2004 he was an assistant coach at Meridian Community College where they won the State Championship, Regional Championship and District Championship advancing to the NJCAA World Series. In the summer of 2004 Coach Smith served as an assistant for the Thunder Bay Border Cats of the North Woods League (collegiate amateur wooden bat) in Thunder Bay, Ontario, Canada. Coach Smith was also an assistant at William Carey University in Hattiesburg, Mississippi, where he was a part of the team that won a GCAC Championship. He also served as an assistant at Okaloosa-Walton College in 2007-2008. Coach Smith has also instructed at numerous camps, clinics, showcases and tournaments across the country.
